During this pleasantly surprising long New Year's Eve weekend, I spent many hours enjoying Netflix instant view to escape the cold . One British series than enraptured my attention for the majority of the weekend was Skins. It's about 17 year old high school students trying to make it through life while overcoming challenges. Dead beat parents, drug abuse, death, and of course everyone's favorite sex all come together rather well. Unlike typical American television series, Skins keeps throwing surprises at every turn but keeping the situations grounded in real life. There are no cheap tricks to keep the audience interested. Just great storytelling. The acting is superb as well it should with the wide range of incredible accents that makes Great Britain famous. I'm currently making my way through the second season and it doesn't get boring or drag. If you're a British loving American and would love to get a look at what the other side of the Pond is like, this is the great chance to explore a foreign place similar but different to our own United States of America.
