Use 1st Gen iPhone as iPod

So my father recently acquired a 1st Gen iPhone to use as an iPod and we couldn't get it to work. It had the latest and greatest firmware installed. The SIM card in it wasn't active and every time I plugged it in iTunes would try to activate it. I even went to the AT&T store to try and score an active SIM card, but it still wouldn't work. Finally, I decided to run blackra1n on it. After this, it worked like a champ.

  1. You have to make sure it has the latest software though. We tried to do it for my old phone for my dad and we couldn't since it didn't have 3.1.2 or whatever. We're going to update it and then try again and hopefully it will work! Will update when we have success!!
